Weekend

Today was church. I had on a dress form my grandmothe'rs closet but my mom suggested that I wear it next Sunday for Easter so instead I wore these things (ie my favorite things that don't match).

The past weekend i went up to the state capital with a bunch of kids for a competition. it was very fun, even though the teams from my school didn't win. i forgot to take pictures of every outfit (i always feel like such a vain narcissist asking people to take pictures of me) but I did get a picture of this outfit from Thursday.

Here are some outfits. I have been failing to take a picture of my outfits lately, I apologize. i just don't remember till it is 11:00. and it makes me feel like such a narcissist. Anyways, my room is such a mess that i think it reflects in my outfits, they are sloppy looking.

The past week...

I have been thinking lately about how much my personal taste in clothes has changed lately...... you would be amazed the conversion of the once boho/punk/grunge emo kid of year ago.
So anyway, I have been trying to document what i have been wearing lately. Some times I wear the same outfit for a couple days in a row because I am to lazy to create something else, but sometimes I create a new outfit (after emptying my closet and displacing the contents on my small floor). So here are the results of my attempt at style documentation (continued).

Sketches and Such

A study of a sculpture i did at work today. It turned out better than I initially thought.


lately I have been looking at art books during school and doing some studies of the pictures that intrigue me. There are so many artist that I have always overlooked and am now coming to appreciate, such as Edward Hooper, Balthus, and Rembrandt, artist i have always despised that actually created amazing work (such as Picasso's earlier work) and artist that i have never herd of, such as Aristide Maillot. Of course there are also the artist i have loved for a while, such as Michelangelo, Da vinci, Rodin, Dali, Klimt, and such.

This is a painting by Balthus Bathasar De Rola called "Sunny Days". His most well known work is "the Chess Game".



Hooper-
Right- two studies of a self portrait done in pen.
Left- three studies of a self portrait done in oils in his early years.



Rembrandt- To the right is one of his many self-portraits and the left picture is a study i did of it. However, the shadows of my study are not unified enough.


Picasso- this is the most intriguing picture that I have ever seen. I could look at it forever. I have looked forever for a poster of it but have had no success, so I have no clue what i shall do. I am afraid to do a study of it for fear of it turning out horrid. Sadness.

Here are the 3 studies I did of Michelangelo's features over the summer. They took about a month each. I finished the eye a few weeks ago but I haven't taken it off the board I sculpted it on yet. Two weeks ago I began the study of the skull and I feel like I have a fairly good start on a crazy complex study.

Crafty #2

Shirt- this was a man's undershirt and i dyed it, cut out the neck, and sewed on bits if fabric cut in teardrop shape. I have been wanting some unique t-shirts lately, but have ended up having to make my own. It is rather fun actually!
shorts- these were actually capris that one of my cousins passed down to me but i cut them off and cave them a darker wash. I am not really a capri person. Anyway, i was so excited that i was actually capable of cutting them of in straight line, but became somewhat sad when i walked into Target a couple weeks ago and saw shorts just like them. Copycats.

hair clip and ring- my mom's; she wore them as a girl.



This is a necklace that i made out of wire. I was inspired by an artist i saw at a art festival but her name isn't coming to mind. anyway, I worked on it over summer on the way to the beach.

This site has very inspiring pieces. I hope to make a ring and walnut necklace similar to these.
Lately the genericisim of my clothes has been overwhelming me, so in response i have been altering them. I will hopefully post some pictures soon. This evening i devoted my efforts to dip dying the bottom of a yellow sweater brown. The results were interesting. I think i like it... but we shall see.

Christmas and the Past weeks

DIY chandelier

It has been a while, I must apologies for being such a bad bloger. I was just thinking that i should do something Christmasy but I already had some ideas I wanted to post a week (or was it a month??) ago and so you will have to endure those first. The nest two days are my gift making days so when those are over I will post some pictures of the result. So here are some old ideas. I have always loved chandeliers and a year ago I had the revelation that I could make my own. It is now one of the 100 thinks on my list of things to make, but maybe on day when school gets out for longer than a breathing moment I will actually get to it. Until then here are some inspirations and pictures that will have to suffice.

Europe #3

Here are some more pictures form Europe. They are from a cathedral in Prague. I took so many pictures and now i look at a couple every evening and it really brings back memories. Maybe one day will be able to put them all in a big book or something like that. We shall see.

Twiggy

At the moment I am not sure what has gotten into me but i have been dressing more minimally and well ....not like a messed up hippy. Thanks to the inspiration people like Twiggy have given me.

Some of my art

Here are three pieces of mine for all you people who have asked for me to post some of my own work. They aren't new, because everything form less than a year ago isn't finished.
From left to right -
This picture is called "Eden: Contemplation of Life, Death, and Love". It is 20x16 and is colored pencil and carbon.
This is a picture inspired by art deco. It is pen and ink.
This picture was supposed to be about rendering a diamond but I sorta twisted it to be more about the humans than the rock (humans are so much interesting than rocks).

Prada Fall and Spring

I feel as eternally behind in school as I do in fashion and I have been spending so much time on school lately that I haven't had time to browse all the new Spring shows (I haven't even seen many of the fall ones) and I haven't had time to update (as you can see). But today I bring you my favorites from both the fall '07 (Top) and the spring '08 of Prada (I get all of my runway pictures, reviews, and all of that wonderful suff from the wonderful style.com). The pictures are sorta small so click to enlarge. Her spring show was amazing. She was very inspired by art Deco. Her fall collection was also very beautiful: especially the colors and the dip dye.
I would be posting more pictures from my trip however I have only had half of my film developed and I failed to mention to my dad that i wanted disks... and i didn't feel like scanning zillions of pictures. So, you will have to wait till I receive the other half of my pictures on disk so that I may post them.

Europe #1

I am sorry for how long it has taken for me to post. I returned form Europe Saturday night and ever since then all my time has been consumed with trying to catch up on school and sleep. I am not caught up on neither but i am closer than a couple days ago. Prague and Budapest were very beautiful. The weather was perfect every day. It was sorta bad because every day the lighting was so great for photographs that i took a total of 21 rolls of film, none of which i have gotten developed yet. Here are a couple of the pictures i took on my digital camera. Later i will post some sketches and paintings and when i get my film developed i will post some of those. Enjoy!
