DIY chandelier

It has been a while, I must apologies for being such a bad bloger. I was just thinking that i should do something Christmasy but I already had some ideas I wanted to post a week (or was it a month??) ago and so you will have to endure those first. The nest two days are my gift making days so when those are over I will post some pictures of the result. So here are some old ideas. I have always loved chandeliers and a year ago I had the revelation that I could make my own. It is now one of the 100 thinks on my list of things to make, but maybe on day when school gets out for longer than a breathing moment I will actually get to it. Until then here are some inspirations and pictures that will have to suffice.

Twiggy

At the moment I am not sure what has gotten into me but i have been dressing more minimally and well ....not like a messed up hippy. Thanks to the inspiration people like Twiggy have given me.

One of many vintage photos that i bought a box of at a flea market.
A photo i took (with a 35mm camera) of Michael Wimmer's sudio. he is an amazing folk artist and makes really cool art with vintage found objects.
Another one of the photos from the flea market.
Another Photo Form Michael Wimme's studio.
Eddie Sedgwick, the one of the most amazing people from the time we now call vintage.
Still another one of those flea market photos.
I hope yall like them!

Some of my art

Here are three pieces of mine for all you people who have asked for me to post some of my own work. They aren't new, because everything form less than a year ago isn't finished.
From left to right -
This picture is called "Eden: Contemplation of Life, Death, and Love". It is 20x16 and is colored pencil and carbon.
This is a picture inspired by art deco. It is pen and ink.
This picture was supposed to be about rendering a diamond but I sorta twisted it to be more about the humans than the rock (humans are so much interesting than rocks).

Emo...

For no specific reason. However, I do find my self attracted to this style sometimes.
All of these Photos are taken form surfacetoairparis.com, Loveless Tokyo album.
The picture on the top right is one of my own sketches that turned out rather distorted.

Prada Fall and Spring

I feel as eternally behind in school as I do in fashion and I have been spending so much time on school lately that I haven't had time to browse all the new Spring shows (I haven't even seen many of the fall ones) and I haven't had time to update (as you can see). But today I bring you my favorites from both the fall '07 (Top) and the spring '08 of Prada (I get all of my runway pictures, reviews, and all of that wonderful suff from the wonderful style.com). The pictures are sorta small so click to enlarge. Her spring show was amazing. She was very inspired by art Deco. Her fall collection was also very beautiful: especially the colors and the dip dye.
I would be posting more pictures from my trip however I have only had half of my film developed and I failed to mention to my dad that i wanted disks... and i didn't feel like scanning zillions of pictures. So, you will have to wait till I receive the other half of my pictures on disk so that I may post them.

Europe #1

I am sorry for how long it has taken for me to post. I returned form Europe Saturday night and ever since then all my time has been consumed with trying to catch up on school and sleep. I am not caught up on neither but i am closer than a couple days ago. Prague and Budapest were very beautiful. The weather was perfect every day. It was sorta bad because every day the lighting was so great for photographs that i took a total of 21 rolls of film, none of which i have gotten developed yet. Here are a couple of the pictures i took on my digital camera. Later i will post some sketches and paintings and when i get my film developed i will post some of those. Enjoy!

Sorry about that

Some Beautiful pictures

Left - Chuck Close's paintings are so inspiring to me. I appreciated them even more when i learned that he is handicapped form a stoke that almost made him quit his art. This is a self portrait.
Top left- This is a picture i took of a old cigar box that was full of crayons for kids at a restaurant.
Bottom right - This is one of the most beautiful images i have seen in a lately and had to share it. it is from an old national geographic.

24.8.07

Vintage flag dress

Clockwise from top left
This is a dress that I made out of an old T-shirt, a vintage british flag, a vintage scarf and belt buckle, and some hand embroidered trim from Scandinavia. I modeled it and also took the pictures (using a timer).
Here is the front. I sowed glass beads on the neckline.
Another picture with some interesting lighting.
This is a picture I took of a friend who was waring my jewelry using her camera.

Todays inspirations...

From left to right
A page form my journal. I actually did this page a year or so ago but i still love the color!!
A tag from a Harajuku Lovers bag i got.
I love Vivainne Westwood, and her summer '07 collection is especially amazing!
Another inspiration of late is Lula magazine. http://www.lulamag.com/. It is so beautiful!!

21.8.07

I have returned quite inspired

The past week I spent at the beach. It was hot but beautiful. Here are some pictures of Charleston, Savannah and the beach. The sketches are ones that I did of my cousin, a sculpture ('Veiled Lady' by Pietro Rossi, marble), and a quick painting of a sunrise.
While I was visiting Savannah, I took a tour of SCAD. It seems like a good school and it has great fashion designing program, but I think there are definitely better art program elsewhere.
Enjoy the Pictures!

More Photos

Here are three more photos. The top two are taken with a digitall and the bottom one is another photo taken with my dads old 35 mm.

10.8.07

Photography with an old camera...

My dad gave me one of his old cameras. It is film, which I have never used before, but it gave me some nice results after a little experimenting. The best part is the surprise when you finally get the pictures developed!!!
These pictures are from around the neighborhood of the studio i am at allot. It is pretty sweet as you can see!

Tsumori Cisato

Here are some ore photos from the amazing site Surface to air. They are photos are of clothes designed by Tsumori Cisato and are absolutely stunning.

3.8.07

Gustav Klimt

Klimt is one of my favorite artist. His works stood out at the time that it was painted and still does today. . i wanted to get more of his painting up on this post but i ran out of room and i had to crop the paintings of his which i did post. do an image search of Klimt on google to see more of his work. Clockwise from top left-
'The Kiss' (1907-1908), 'The Maiden' (1912-1913), Portrait of Adele-Bloch Bauer II (1912), and 'Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I' (1907).

A Bit Random

Here are some photos that I took at an amusement part. They aren't really of the part though. The shoes on the left bottom corner are vans that I drew on with a permeant marker. It is a fun thing to do and no one will have anything like them!

30.7.07

Today...

I am loving the photographs and the graphic interpretation of them placed nest to the photo from Passerby on the site Surface to Air (http://surface2airparis.com/pg/). This site is amazing and you should really check it out.

28.7.07

Black

I feel like if i always post so colorfully as i have been lately, this blog will come across as quite garish. So here is black; a color which i love very much but miss greatly during the hot summer months.
All of these pictures are from the German fashion magazine Herbstmode (Sep. '06). A bit outdated, I know, but the composition of these photos will always be beautiful and classic cloths should always be appreciated.
The only picture not from Herbstmode is the one in the bottom right hand corner. This photo was taken from a vogue magazine.
Enjoy!

26.7.07

colors of the day

Clockwise from top left
Two pages from my journal. it is pretty much just a bunch of junk that i find beautiful glue on a page and then paint and every now and then bits from my sketch book. However you don't have to be an artist to have an art journal or keep an altered book going.
This is a photo from http://surface2airparis.com/pg/ taken by Kenneth Cappello for Loveless Tokyo Stores.
Tome tiles from a wall in Little Five Points, Atlanta. pretty much the coolest place in the world.
A scarf that i knitted out of a crazy assortment of yarn.

Inspiration at the moment and the reason for this blog

The point of this blog is to inspire; not just to inspire artist and the such, but to inspire everybody who sees it. I hope that because of what you see hear you will throw something different and unique into you outfit or play around with beads or paint or maybe both! Open an art book and relish the colors, go to a fabric store and run your hand along the bolsters, or just flip through a Vogue as you stand in line at the grocery store. Enjoy life and all its colors that God has blessed you with! I will try and have a new post every other day or so and i hope that you enjoy every single pixel!

clockwise from top left
I never thought of embroidering toile, however the amazing people at http://www.supernaturale.com did and look at the results!
A picture of me in a dress surrounded by patterns.
at the moment i am really into this surrealist called Dorothea Tanning. this painting by her is called "A little Night Music". She was married to Max Earnest and only had two weeks of art training. Amazing!
John Galliano is my favorite designer. He has such a unique style! Here is one of his designs from his '02 spring collection, which is so well put together and really has had an impact on me.
